The US administration has slammed Israeli prime minister’s political party for using anti-Arab rhetoric ahead of elections.
A spokesman for the White House said Washington is deeply concerned about divisive language emanating from Netanyahu's Likud Party.
Josh Earnest said the party had sought to marginalize Israel's minority Arabs.
He was apparently referring to social media posts by Likud members that warned Israelis about the danger of high turnout by Arab voters.
Earnest went on to say that Washington still opposes Netanyahu’s rejection of a Palestinian statehood and is trying to re-evaluate the best way to find a solution.
In a surprising veer just before the election, Netanyahu reversed his former position and said he now opposes the creation of a separate Palestinian state.
