James Degorski is serving a life sentence for murdering 7 people in 1993 in the Chicago area.
When he was taken into custody, a jail guard punched Degorski, fracturing his face.
The guard maintains it was in self defense and was acquitted of charges.
Degorski filed a civil suit against the guard and was just awarded $451,000 in the case.
