Mysterious plumes up to 150 miles high were seen in the atmosphere of Mars in May and April of 2012, astronomers have reported, but the flares are leaving them baffled.
This isn’t the first time these plumes have shown up, as an earlier phenomenon took place in 1997, though scientists are still at a loss as to what exactly is causing them.
