Israel will be receiving more money from the US after a bill signed by US President Barack Obama this week.

At an African Leadership Conference he defended his decision to sign the bill authorized hundreds of millions of dollars.

Congress hasn't cooperated on much lately.

But they have agreed to spend more money on Israel.

Conservative lawmakers on Capitol Hill applauded the passage of a funding bill for Israel’s Iron Dome system.

The Senate hastily passed the bill which gives 225 million dollars to the missile interceptor system.

It’s designed to shoot down rockets fired toward Israel by Palestinian resistance groups.

Senator Lindsay Graham and John McCain showed supported for the funding bill.

Graham and McCain said the funding shows the United States’ renewed support of Israel.

They approved the package right before they left for a summer break.

The US has given hundreds of millions of dollars for the Iron Dome in the past.

The new package is designed to bolster Israel’s capabilities and stockpiles.

The funding comes as the Palestinian resistance movement and the Israeli army agreed to a 72-hour cease-fire in Gaza after weeks of aggression against the people in the blockaded territory.
