An international peace activist says US media outlets, such as CNN and Fox News, side with Israel 24 hours a day in its ongoing crimes in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Sara Flounders, co-director at the US-based International Action Center, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Saturday.

More than 7,000 people gathered on Friday near Columbus Circle in New York City to protest against Israel’s crimes in Gaza and the biased coverage they receive in the US media.

The protest was organized by the activist group International Action Center.

“The demonstration yesterday, ‘Stand With Gaza’, drew thousands of people.

It began in front of CNN, one news agency full of complete war propaganda, totally in support of Israel, which is at Columbus Circle, and it marched towards the News Corp building owned by Rupert Murdoch, which is also the center of Fox News, the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal, and other US corporate media,” said Flounders.

“And it was really a demonstration both in solidarity with Gaza and against the terrible crime being committed in Gaza, but also against the crime of the media here, which has not an ounce of objectivity or news.

It one hundred percent, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, sides with Israel in this horrendous massacre being committed in Gaza today,” she added.

“The plans are for another demonstration – a march to the UN next Saturday.

There are other activities almost on daily basis – civil disobedience action, smaller marches, gatherings, funeral marches; there have been many, many events in New York.

There’s a demonstration in front of the White House today in Washington, DC,” the activist revealed.

“So, all of this is really an effort to challenge the criminal US policy.

For more than 60 years, Israel has been the largest recipient of US aid.

The complete support of the US is what allows Israel’s crimes to continue.

And Israel is really a tool of the Wall Street’s rule in the region,” Flounders concluded.

About 1,700 Palestinians have been killed, including women and children, and thousands others injured by the Israeli regime’s offensive against the coastal enclave despite pressure from the international community.

The United Nations says over 80 percent of the fatalities in Gaza have been civilians.
