American tech firms joined Verizon Wireless in releasing their most detailed reports yet on the US government's information requests made under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which, in part, governs the National Security Agency's bulk metadata collection programs revealed by former government contractor Edward Snowden.
Google, Facebook, Yahoo, MIcrosoft and LinkedIn released the number of government requests for data between January and June 2013, affecting between 250 and nearly 31,000 accounts.
Yahoo had the highest number of accounts requested, with LinkedIn having the least.
