FROM CBS 2 CHICAGO: A boy just days away from his 15th birthday was among two young teens killed in gun violence in Chicago since Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Separate shootings wounded four other people, most of whom are also teenagers.

The boy was standing on a porch in the 2400 block of West Augusta Boulevard in the West Town neighborhood about 11:50 p.m.

when two shooters walked up and opened fire, authorities said.

He was shot multiple times in the chest and died at the scene, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the fatality, but declined to release his name early Saturday pending notification of relatives.

He would have turned 15 on Tuesday, according to a source.

The second fatal shooting happened about 6:40 p.m.

in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood.

Victor Vega, 15, and another male were walking in the 2600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue when an unknown male approached and fired shots, according to police and the medical examiner's office.

Paramedics took Vega, of the 2600 block of South Central Park Avenue, to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died about half an hour later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The attack was gang-related, a source said.

The slain teens were the youngest of at least six people shot in Chicago since Friday afternoon — all but one of whom were 17 years old or younger.

Two of the wounded remain in serious or critical condition.

Two boys, 16 and 17, were wounded in a shooting in the 400 block of East 82nd Street, part of the Chatham neighborhood, just after 4 p.m.

police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said, citing preliminary information.

The younger boy was shot in the thigh and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

The Fire Department said paramedics transported him in critical condition.

The 17-year-old suffered a graze wound to the chest was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good-to-fair condition, authorities said.

In an apparently unrelated shooting in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, a 17-year-old was shot in the torso and arm in a gang-related attack about 2 p.m.

in the 2100 block of West 85th Street, police said.

He was hospitalized in serious-to-critical condition, the Fire Department said.

In the Uptown neighborhood, a 19-year-old man was shot in the buttocks about 12:50 p.m.

near North Clarendon and West Buena avenues, police said.

    Ald.

James Cappleman said in a Tweet that the shooting might have stemmed from a drug deal gone bad.

No arrests have been made as of early Saturday.
